In my 23 years of life, I don’t think I’ve ever spent a full night by my lonesome. By night, I mean sleeping and waking up to no one in the house. It might sound strange and childish to some of you but that’s the way it is. I’ve always lived with my parents and whenever they were off on holiday, I always had my younger brother to rely on. Moral of the story: there was always another person in the house with me during the night.
Now as most of you know, I’ve recently moved to Glasgow with my boyfriend. So, when he had to visit Malta for a few days for his graduation (literally it was only 3 nights), I realised that I’m going to have the house to myself for the first time ever. Mornings aren’t so bad as we usually spend them apart anyway. Come nighttime was when I started to feel a bit anxious. I’m the type of person who usually worries about whether I’ve left the oven on or the tap running as soon as my mind is supposed to relax and ooze off to sleep. I knew that having the house to myself will not help my constantly active brain.
I’ve always followed thisworks as a brand but, since it’s not so easily available in Malta, I had never tried anything from the brand. However, I remembered that they have a ‘sleep’ range and I quickly went online to make my own research. I knew there was something along the lines of a pillow sleep that will help you sleep. I looked up the nearest store which sells thisworks here, which happened to be the SpaceNK in Princes Square, and I bought myself a Sleep + Pillow Spray.
Now, I know how this sounds. I bought it with almost complete certainty that this was all a selling act and that this cannot possibly work. On the other hand, I thought well this might make me sleep anyway and I needed anything that might reassure me some shuteye. The lady at SpaceNK recommended the Sleep + Pillow Spray rather than the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. The main reason behind this decision is that the Deep Sleep helps you get to sleep while the Sleep + does that but also ensures that you have an uninterrupted sleep. The Sleep + Pillow Spray is a natural blend of lavender. This fragrance is encapsulated so that it is released gradually in your sleep. It also helps you wake up feeling refreshed after a good night’s sleep.
I was quite sceptical of this product but it honestly surprised me. After a few shakes, I spritzed a few sprays on my pillow case and I was all set for bed. I switched off the lights and started the usual ritual in my head. Did I lock the door? Did I switch off the kettle? Did I close the sink tap? Dammit this spray is not working. There goes £25. Then I woke up the next morning. My first thought was At what point did I fall asleep last night? I tried it for three straight nights and I woke up with the same feeling every morning. Perfect!
As for the uninterrupted sleep claim, I did wake up one night but, to be fair, I was cold and I had the usual incident of losing one sock in my sleep while the other one is still on.
The price tag is not the cheapest but if you’re in desperate need to restore your sleeping patterns I don’t think there’s a price high enough that you won’t pay. Also, this will last quite a long time as, since the fragrance is quite strong, a couple of sprays will do the trick.
I’m looking forward to trying more from this brand!
