• Golden Harvest & Gluten-Free

You might say, well that’s a strange event to go to Lyndsey. Granted but this makes a huge impact on my personal life. Being gluten intolerant for more than a year now, I’ve had to deal with people tasting my food and remarking ‘How do you eat this stuff?’ and ‘You’ve forgotten what real food tastes like!’. I admit, a gluten-free pizza is not quite as good as a gluten pizza and gluten-free bread has got nothing on our ‘hobza tal-Malti’. However, that’s precisely where Golden Harvest comes in.

The amount of people with gluten intolerance is drastically increasing and people are also switching to a gluten-free diet because they feel it is healthier lifestyle. Golden Harvest has decided to meet this great demand by launching gluten-free products including the most exciting thing by far…freshly baked bread! Their range of products includes bread rolls, bread buns, pizza bases and vanilla and chocolate muffins for the craving sweet tooth out there.

I was invited to their launch last Thursday, hosted by Golden Harvest and Attard & Co and here’s how it went down.

During a short presentation, Mr Aquilina, Chief Executive of Golden Harvest Bakery assured us that the proper measures have been taken to keep gluten-free products away from any sort of contamination. There is a sealed gluten-free area and the all raw materials are tested that they are indeed gluten-free before production.

Speaking from experience, I have never tried any gluten-free FRESH bread before this launch. The word ‘fresh’ is the key word here since this is probably the closest to bakery line products that you can get. Their aim for these new gluten-free products is for that the whole family can eat these products. They strived to re-create the traditional bread aroma and the softness and flavour of non-gluten free bread.

From a first-hand taste at the launch, I can assure you that they succeeded! The catering at the launch was all gluten-free and I tasted the bread and it was delicious. Definitely beats any other pre-packed gluten-free bread I’ve had before.

As I claimed before, this event was also in collaboration with Attard & Co, with a number of gluten-free products available, including the new Amarsi di+ range. Attard & Co, together with Golden Harvest and British Bakels are ‘proud to take a leading position in locally produced Gluten-free options especially when considering the increasing reality of living ‘gluten-free”’. Take a look at their variety of products below.

Golden Harvest’s gluten-free products will be available in stores and supermarkets as from the 1st of October 2014.

Thank you Golden Harvest and Attard & Co for taking the wise decision to make our lives tastier and easier!

I think there’s enough of the word ‘gluten-free’ in this post to last a lifetime!
