• My Skincare Routine

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been in a constant battle with my skin. No matter how hard I tried to strike back, I never seemed to be on the winning side. I was one of those lucky teenagers who were hit by the rough blow of acne. Thankfully, I never had the severe form but being the dramatic teenager that everyone is at around the age of 13, it was like being hit by a grenade that not even Bruno Mars could catch.

At the moment, being older, wiser and less dramatic, I seem to be in a good place, despite the few marks I still have my right cheek from trying to scratch them away even though the doctors warned me not to. However, they’re nothing that a few dabs of concealer can’t fix. I don’t really know how they got better but I guess after countless trips to my dermatologist something made my face stop being such a dramatic b*tch.

Being a blogger, I love trying and testing out new things. However, I’m still very cautious with regard to skincare. After trying out a new product, I still seem to wake up in fear that I’ll look in the mirror and see giant red spots all over my face.  Thankfully that hasn’t happened with this set of products I’ve been using lately.

I remember using Simple Skincare in my early teenage years before I started going to the dermatologist. Obviously, they were too weak for me then due to my skin reacting to basically everything which wasn’t a proper medical product. However, I’m loving this routine at the moment. I re-discovered Simple after watching one of Zoella’s videos. Sometimes the best thing to do is go back to basics and give your skin a little break from all the chemicals which some of the skincare products contain.

After I splash my face with cold water, which is always good to wake me up on those dreaded early mornings, I start off with a small amount of the Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel. I massage it on to my face, leave it for a few minutes, and rinse it off with water. After I dry my face with a clean cloth, I move on to the Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner, and I can safely say that this step is my favourite! I apply this on a cotton wool and wipe it across my face in an upward movement. My skin feels so clean and refreshed after this toner. The best part is that it is 100% alcohol free and it is perfect for sensitive skin.

I wait a few seconds till the toner completely soaks into my skin and I move on to my eye-cream. This is the only non-Simple product in my routine at the moment just because I’ve still got a generous amount left of this product. I use the Good Things Bright Eyes Eye Cream which I’m sure I mentioned in a Favourites post some time ago. I put one drop of the product on my ring finger and gently apply around my eye area. The last step of my routine is the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. I apply this on my face and neck using upward and outward motions. It’s very important to moisturise your skin even if you have oily skin. A little tip for my oily-skin readers…if you’re interested in Simple products, there’s even a range dedicated to you called the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser.

I am in no way qualified in skincare but I thought I’d share with you my little routine which I use every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to bed. Take a look at the Simple Skincare range here. Having no artificial colours, perfumes or harsh chemicals, I definitely approve!

    Thanks for reminding of Simple!
I am always on the look out of ‘natural’ skin care products.
